The Warrior.... useless????
Hail...
First of, I am a 37 year old player, autistic, and on GW now 2 years.
I took a wee break from the game, and when I came back, the oddest thing happened: I saw my Warrior being punked as he never had been punked before...
Maybe a bad day... happens.
I did not worry.
Now, weeks have passed, and behold, I do see the damage has been turned down, the Hammer-, the Axe- and Sword master now do same damage, tho, the Hammermaster is significantly slower.
On top of this, the Warrior seems to be utterly vulnerable to spell casting.
Even taking a lvl 23 NPC on one on one, is impossible, nearly.
This was all PVE, so I went to AB, PVP, GvG... and wow....
I mean... wow....
The Warrior can't take any profession down, unless he has a GOOD healer, and the other not.
I have seen tanking spellcasters, damage dealing Rangers, you name it.
I mean: dying vs Spellcasters when having 590 health, while they keep a half lifebar?
And yes, I do get close enough to pummel them, not that that is any good really... lol
Nowadays, I noticed looking other battles, the Warrior made place for other classes, now, I do understand, there can be other classes similar to the Warrior (IE. Tanking, Damage Dealing, ..., simply: for what the Warrior was made for), but that the warrior outclassed is... that is sad.
I do hope the Warrior will get a review compared to (balanced out to) other classes, so that the Warrior will get a small chance of being equal to the rest?
Well, I am hoping...

The warrior is a great class. Post your skill bar and we can comment on it, you might also want to check out the warrior section of the forums for ideas on good builds.

This is a Strength/Hammer build.
It has Strength on 13, Hammer on 13.
Skills:
Backbreaker
Belly Smash
Mighty Blow
Overbearing Smash
forgot, tis from the top o'me head
Signet of healing
Defy Pain
Signet of Resurrection
Usage:
Defy Pain-> Backbreaker-> Belly Smash-> Overbearing Smash->mostly Sig of Heal-> repeat.
Addon: this system worked like a charm, first you knocked an opponent down, blind, ...
Naturaly, before all this, the Defy Pain.
But nope, no more...
Addon 2: Mending? That's Monk, right?

Heh, I know... XD
About the Mending, I mean.
Yes, 3 Tactics...
But, the idea was to make a Damage Dealer, I hang out with quite a few Spellcasters, you see.
I thought a warrior could be a good addon.
It was, for quite a while!
Droknar and surroundings were quite doable.
Were is here the keyword... :S

The fact that you only have 3 tactics isn't bad,but you should replace healing signet with something ussefull.

Okay okay... heres a few decent builds of mine. Mostly for PvP, but they can be adjusted to other scenarios.
W/D
15 Axe Mastery, 9 Strength, 11 Wind Prayers.
[skill]Furious Axe[/skill][skill]Eviscerate[/skill][skill]Axe Rake[/skill][skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill][skill]Flail[/skill][skill]Harrier's Haste[/skill][skill]Natural Healing[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
This is how I play the build, basically you're gunna have to give up on going toe to toe in battle for a 1 vs 1 show down. Generaly build up adreline on a target who won't really be able to do much damage, but will stay up above 90% (to keep a monk unwary). Then with a full charged bar, get to the mo, engage flail and do the combo, harrier's haste as he tries to run away. Monk's are the hardest build to take down, stancers aren't so bad since Furious axe gets adreline from blocking.
W/E
15 Axe, 9 Strength, 6-8 Tactics, 8-10 Air Magic
[skill]Shock[/skill][skill]Lacerating Chop[/skill][skill]Eviscerate[/skill][skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill][skill]Frenzy[/skill][skill]Rush[/skill][skill]Healing Signet[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
General Shock build I use, in AB I swap out res sig for conjur lightning.
W/N
15 Hammer, 5-6 Strength, 12 Death Magic
[skill]Backbreaker[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill][skill]Fierce Blow[/skill][skill]Auspicious Blow[/skill][skill]Tiger Stance[/skill][skill]Enraging Charge[/skill][skill]Withering Aura[/skill][skill]Soul Feast[/skill] or [skill]Renewing Smash[/skill]
Great for AB, can work in RA too. Pretty plain build, get your adreline use tiger for the spike and go down the line 1,2,3,4.

Warriors are good for something - great for beginners to learn the game. And healing signet will take 40 armour off you, so you're probably being heavily targeted when you're using that. At 3 tactics, you'll not even begin to overheal the damage you've sustained.

If you are running high strength, use sentinals armor and swap healing signet for lion's courage. Warriors are one of the best classes and fun to use, second to MM's IMHO. They are essential to most groups to keep the enemies back while the spell casters demolish them. Besides, most nerfs are based on their power. War was my first and will remain my main character :-).

defy pain is bad,and this builds needs more crushing blow - deep wound on kd'd targets
(also theres 2 elites there)
also if you're going against an ele tank, switch targets.

@ Nevin: that W/Nec seems fun... ty.
@ Dante: Yes, the best hit I had in Grenths vs a Summit Cleaver, I think it was, was 190'ish.
Using 14 Str, 13 Hammer, A fire based hammer (added Penetrating 20%, +1 hammer 20%).
Now I do not even get a 70 there...
120 damage gone, insane... THO!! I admit, the Warrior back then was a bit too much.
But more than half the damage?
Spell casters hit easily for 100+....
@ Darkobra: True... and you feel a -40 Armor well...
@ Tyla: why is the defy a bad skill?
And the Backbreaker is an elite, so a second elite would be tough

Defy and Endure Pain is bad because its basically a "ahh crud I'm going to die skill." It doesn't really do anything other then provide you with a few extra seconds before you die. Using an actual heal consistantly is better. You should either have some way to migate the damage you take (sheild's up, a blocking stance, a good monk prot hero with you) so you don't ever get to the point where you need to use defy/endure.

My warrior hasn't looked back since she capped Dragon Slash. <3
Been playing squishies for so long it's great to tear mobs up without dying in seconds.

Warrior's are not, and will never be useless. God Mode, for example. For 30 seconds, everyone else in your team takes almost no damage while you deal ~60 damage every second. FTW?
